Portmeirion has officially announced that the production of Spode patterns Blue Italian and Woodland in Stoke-On-Trent have met with great success! After all, the Italian pattern has been made continuously in the potteries since 1811, a piece made in the Orient (not only being of inferior quality) just wouldn't cut the deal for an "Italian" collector or Spode admirer.
Hopefully we will see the resurrection of some of Worcester and Spode's more trademark prestigious patterns.
As far as plans for further UK production- it seems Christmas Tree is almost a definite to return into UK Production. The rest of the Spode and Worcester patterns are on hold until further decisions can be made.
